This certification allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
Open Water Diver Pre-Requisites

Minimum age is 10. Children aged 10 and 14 year olds will be awarded the PADI Junior Open Water certification.
What will I do?
Knowledge Development - home study and classroom sessions to understand basic principles of scuba diving
Confined Water Dives – to learn basic scuba skills. This is what it’s all about – diving! You develop basic scuba skills by scuba diving in our swimming pool at The Ridgeway Leisure Centre Pool, Wroughton. Here you will learn everything from setting up your scuba gear to how to easily get water out of your scuba mask without surfacing.
You’ll also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air or replacing your scuba mask.
There is a minimum of five confined water dives, with each building upon the previous, allowing you to attain the skills you need to dive in open water.
Watermanship skills must be demonstrated, you don't have to be a strong swimmer as long as you can complete a 200-metre swim and tread water for 10 minutes.
Open Water Dives - When you are confident of the skills learnt in the confined pool sessions, you then undertake the four open water dives during which you will demonstrate the skills that you have been taught. This is then followed by a pleasure dive and a chance to explore!
