The PADI Open Water Referral course is perfect for those who want to undertake the open water dives on holiday, saving valuable time inside a classroom or training pool whilst away. You complete all the theory and confined pool sessions here with us in Swindon, and the remaining open water dives at any PADI dive centre within 12 months from the completion date of your referral course. So you get to enjoy more diving on holiday.
Open Water Referral Pre-Requisites
All students must complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire prior to participation.
Minimum age is 10. Children aged 10 to 14 will be awarded the PADI Junior Open Water certification once all four qualifying open water dives have been completed.
What will I do?
Knowledge Development - home study and classroom sessions to understand basic principles of scuba diving
Confined Water Dives - to learn basic scuba skills
Open Water Dives - to review your skills and explore! These are done at your preferred referral location.
Confined Water Dives – Scuba Skills Training - This is what it’s all about – diving. You develop basic scuba skills by scuba diving in our swimming pool at The Ridgeway Leisure Centre Pool, Wroughton. Here you’ll learn everything from setting up your scuba gear to how to easily get water out of your scuba mask without surfacing.
You’ll also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air or replacing your scuba mask.
There is a minimum of five confined water dives, with each building upon the previous, allowing you to attain the skills you need to dive in open water.
Watermanship skills must be demonstrated, you don't have to be a strong swimmer as long as you can complete a 200-metre swim and tread water for 10 minutes.
5-6 weeks (1 evening per week)
Includes main equipment hire, air, tuition, training materials and swimming pool fees.

Every Wednesday evening, The Ridgeway Leisure Centre Pool, Wroughton 8:00pm, kit up 7:45pm.
How do I sign up?
To book your place please call or email us. A non-refundable deposit is required on booking to secure your place, you will be issued with your training materials and you can start your course when you are ready.
Certify as a PADI Open Water Diver by conducting the four remaining open water dives at any PADI dive centre.
Once you have completed your PADI Open Water diver course you have the option of moving onto the PADI Advanced Open Water diver course, where you will increase your experience, develop your underwater skills and get a taste of PADI Specialty courses.
