PADI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)

Our PADI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Specialty is one of the most fun specialties to participate in.

Scuba diving with a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) is like, taking a scenic stroll around a park whilst exploring a neighborhood on an (electric) bicycle.  DPVs, also called underwater scooters, allow you to see more and get from one place to another faster - with a huge smile on your face.

Learn to conserve your energy and air, avoid problems like ascending/descending too fast, motor entanglements, losing track of your buddy and running out of battery power. The PADI DPV Specialty course covers the safety procedures, the most effective method of swimming with a DPV, buddy procedures during the dive and problems and hazards.

Diver Propulsion Vehicle Diver Pre-Requisites

• PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver, or qualifying entry-level certification.
• All participants must download and complete the PADI Medical Disclaimer Form prior to participation. Any pre-existing medical conditions highlighted on this form will require medical clearance before we can allow you to take part.

What's included?
The course fee includes main equipment hire, DPV hire, air, tuition, PADI eLearning theory, PADI Certification fee. Not entry fees to inland dive sites.

• Pay your non-refundable deposit to secure your place. Balance payment is required prior to going to open water. (Any discounts are applied at the end of your chosen course).  
• Once your order comes through we will check the calendar and advise you of our next available start date.  

What will I do?

• The planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of diving with an underwater propulsion vehicle.
• Equipment considerations including but not limited to battery care, maintenance and precautions.
• Proper procedures for: determining a turnaround point, vehicle failure, runaway motor, descents, ascents and avoiding propeller entanglements. 
• Techniques to avoid handling harming fragile aquatic life.
• Techniques for entering and exiting the water with a Diver Propulsion Vehicle.

Knowledge Development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace, backed up by an academic session with an instructor, to ensure full understanding of drift diving theory. 

Open Water Dives sstudents must complete two open water dives with a DPV to certify as PADI DPV Diver. Each dive has specific tasks designed to help students with the considerations for diving with a DPV such as entries and exits, descents and ascents, manoeuvring and buddy contact.
