With our PADI Specialty MSDT Instructor Course, you can dive more, have more fun and teach about your favorite subjects. Specialty instructor courses provide teaching tips and hands-on experience that you can implement right away.

You can choose from any of the 25+ standard specialty courses that PADI offers along with distinctive specialty courses your Course Director may offer. Having five specialty instructor ratings is a prerequisite for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating.

Assistant Instructor Pre-Requisites

  • You must be a Renewed PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Instructor or have completed an IDC or Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program within the past 12 months.
  • You're on your way to becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with only five PADI Specialty Instructor ratings.

You have three ways to become a PADI Specialty Instructor:

With a Course Director
Use your experience to apply directly to PADI
Write your own outline
Doing Specialty Instructor with a PADI Course Director
10 experience dives in each particular specialty
Minimum number of certification not required
Apply for Specialty Instructor Rating directly to PADI
20 experience dives in each particular specialty
Have certified at least 25 divers before applying

Specialty Instructor Training course attendance is highly recommended. These courses provide valuable hands-on training, technique demonstrations, course marketing information, current PADI Standards information and, when applicable, instructor-level open water training.

      Course Fee
      SPECIALTY MSDT INSTRUCTOR COURSE from £250pp (dependant upon specialities chosen)

      What's included?
      The course fee includes, air, tuition, swimming pool fees.  Not entry fees to inland dive sites. PADI Registration fee is extra and paid direct to PADI.

      Course Duration
      The Specialty MSDT Instructor course has a minimum number of hours that you must complete, we offer this package over 3 days. 

      How do I sign up? 
      Pay your non-refundable reservation fee to secure your place, then call into us at the dive shop Scuderia House, Swindon SATNAV SN2 1EG and we can discuss in detail with you.

      What will I do?
      Whether it’s Ice, Deep, Photography, Enriched Air Nitrox or one of your own, PADI Specialty Instructors are out there scuba diving and training.

      As a PADI Specialty Instructor, challenge your students to become Master Scuba Divers and increase your marketability as a PADI Professional. 

      The challenging part of this course is your personal commitment to the training. The course requires you to complete all the self-study knowledge reviews before the course begins and to prepare daily assignments for teaching presentations daily. 

      Organisation and dedication are key.

      What You Can Teach
      Teach the PADI Specialties you like most.

      Scuba Equipment Requirements
      You will need to supply your own full set of scuba equipment that is in good condition and within the manufacturers service guidelines. Equipment must include:

      Regulator, Alternate Air Source, SPG, Depth Gauge, Timing Device, BCD, Exposure Suit, Weight System, two Signalling Devices (Whistle / SMB's etc), Dive Compass and Dive Knife.

      Discounts are available on any required equipment purchases made during your enrolment on the course.

      Each speciality has it's own unique value that will make you a more rounded PADI professional. 

      Complete five specialities and you are well on your way to the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification.
