SSI Explorers can go on even more underwater adventures to earn different Specialty Explorer ratings.
They can improve their explorer skills with exciting specialties and earn Explorer recognition cards for their achievements, which they can be proud of.
Complete 2 Explorer Specialties to earn your SSI Specialty Explorer rating. Complete 4 Explorer Specialties to earn your SSI Advanced Explorer rating. Complete Rescue Explorer plus 4 additional Explorer Specialties to become an SSI Master Explorer!
Explorer Pre-Requisites
- Minimum age is 6, for Snorkeling, Mermaid and Freediving
- Minimum age is 8, for Scuba Diving

You must be able to swim 12 metres without any swim or buoyancy aids
- A parent or guardian must be at the pool to accompany children under the age of 16 years old, they do not need to participate, but will be required to stay during the experience.
- All participants must download and complete the SSI Medical Disclaimer Form prior to participation. Any pre-existing medical conditions highlighted on this form will require medical clearance before we can allow you to take part.
Course Fee
EXPLORER - Part Two - £250pp
(£50 paid at each session)
What's included?
The course fee includes main equipment hire, air, tuition, SSI Scuba Explorer Activity Book, fun, games, swimming pool fees. (You must have your own mask and snorkel.)
Course Duration
5 weeks (1 evening per week, 60 mins)
(There are no open water dives with this course)
How do I sign up?
- Download the SSI APP Register for FREE and complete your profile in full.

Complete the SSI Medical Disclaimer Form and email to info@jcscuba.net for us to review.
- Pay your non-refundable deposit to secure your place. Remaining payments are then spread equally at each session and will be called for prior to each pool session.
- Once your order comes through we will check the calendar and advise you of our next available start date.

- Underwater Model Explorer
- Ecology Explorer
Participants who have completed the Freediving* Explorer programme may complete the following specialty experiences:
- Monofin Explorer
- No-Fins Explorer
Participants who have completed the Scuba Explorer programme may complete the following specialty experiences:
- Enriched Air Nitrox Explorer
- Perfect Buoyancy Explorer
- Search and Recovery Explorer
When are they held?
The sessions are held every Wednesday evening at The Ridgeway Leisure Centre Pool, Wroughton 8:00pm, kit up 7:45pm. SATNAV SN4 9DJ
