Become a certified scuba diver with SSI
The SSI Scuba Diver program is a perfect foundation to become a confident and safe diver. Using online learning, confined and open water dives, you will learn all you need to scuba dive in open water up to 12 meters deep with an SSI Professional.
In this program, you will complete almost half of the Open Water Diver course training and can upgrade your certification easily. You just need to complete the remaining academic and confined water sessions, plus two open water training dives.
Scuba Diver Pre-Requisites
- Minimum age is 10.
- You must be medically fit for diving and be able to complete a 200-metre swim and tread water for 10 minutes.
- All participants must download and complete the SSI Medical Disclaimer Form prior to participation. Any pre-existing medical conditions highlighted on this form will require medical clearance before we can allow you to take part.

2 Confined Pool Session (1 evening per week)
2 Open Water Dives - 1 day at a UK inland dive site.
What's included?
The course fee includes main equipment hire, (you must have your own mask and snorkel), air, tuition, SSI eLearning theory, swimming pool fees, SSI Certification fee. Not entry fees to inland dive sites.
How do I sign up?
- Download the SSI APP Register for FREE and complete your profile in full.
- Complete the SSI Medical Disclaimer Form in the APP or download and email to info@jcscuba.net for us to review.
- Pay your non-refundable deposit to secure your place. Interim/balance payment is required at referral stage. Final balance payment prior to going to open water, (Any discounts are applied at the end of your chosen course option).
- Once your order comes through we will check the calendar and advise you of our next available start date.
What will I do?
During our SSI Scuba Diver course, you'll learn what you need to know to explore the underwater world using scuba.
The SSI Scuba Diver course includes theory, two confined pool session where you learn the basics and practice scuba skills in a swimming pool. You'll enjoy making one or more minidives, which take you through the same steps you follow when you make the open water divea. To complete training you practice, apply and demonstrate what you learnt during the Open Water Divea at a local dive site.
When are they held?
The sessions are held every Wednesday evening at The Ridgeway Leisure Centre Pool, Wroughton 8:00pm, kit up 7:45pm. SATNAV SN4 9DJ
